After six months in the nursery, the coffee plants are planted in the field. A coffee plant’s productivity is determined by the conditions of the soil (also known as the terroir) and the climate of the coffee farm. The number of plants per hectare and the age of the plants are just some of the many other factors that directly affect its yield. It is important to correctly separate and space coffee plants, as this allows them to grow appropriately and maximise their yield, as well as keeping the soil structure of the coffee field sustainable.
